Richard Karon Biography Soon!

TAKING A HIATUS FOR A RESEARCH PROJECT - THE BIOGRAPHY OF A MUSKOKA ARTIST

MUSKOKA AS WALDEN

It is a gentle, not-so-cold day, with very light snow falling, (on cedars) and the forecast is for much milder weather, and even rain, by late in the week. It is not hard to live with, and the winter season, was particularly moderate, which should have saved folks money on home heating and snow removal. It is worrisome if the warmer winter was the result of global warming issues.

I am taking a hiatus from making regular submissions to this blogsite for the time-being, as I have just now entered the first phase of writing the biography of former Muskoka artist, Richard Karon. I've been working on this for the past two months, but in reality, it's a project I've been touching-upon for about twenty years. I've written about Karon's work many times in the recent past, and as an antique dealer, I've been giving information on his paintings and valuations for just as long. He was a prolific painter and in the last five years, hundreds of his art pieces have become available, most often in antique shops and small galleries across Canada. I can get several requests for information every month. Purchased from his Baysville studio, customers took the paintings across the continent, and to Europe.

Richard, as I've written about before, had a studio in the Township of Lake of Bays, in the District of Muskoka, not far from the village of Baysville. His son, also named Richard, asked recently, if I'd be interested in putting together his father's biography, and I jumped at the chance. The finished biography will be published on my Gravenhurst blogsite beginning at the end of March. The finished biography will then be submitted to the archives collection of both the Art Gallery of Ontario, and the National Gallery, to assist researchers in the future.

My Gravenhurst site will continue to be updated daily.

Get out an enjoy this beautiful late winter day in Muskoka.
